On October 1st, a mini marvelous world has opened its doors in Dubai for six months. This “Expo universelle” may be an initiative taking its roots from few centuries ago, yet it has never been such a tool to expose soft power around the globe.
As a visitor, going to the EXPO is an entire experience on its own. This mini world at the south of Dubai is waiting for you with various adventures from the morning to the night… In fact, you absolutely don’t have time to get bored, but only to convince your legs to bring you to each faces of this gargantuesque exhibition.
There is undoubtedly something magic about this place, I can’t say if it’s because of the amount of information present in each pavilion or the incredible number of people from all around the world involved and gathered in one piece of work. There is also a chance that it could be simply due to the pleasant surprise of a place created to showcase a fictional world which is tiring up into pieces. Even though EXPO is supposed to tackle the problematics of tomorrow and sensibilize the public about them, the product is still far more optimistic as the reality awaiting for us.
Nevertheless, EXPO Dubai is certainly showing a message to the world about the growing place the UAE is getting at the negotiations tables. The centrality of the UAE in international relations has increased impressively these last decades and is meant to continue its way likewise. EXPO Dubai hasn’t even gone half way through, the UAE is already planning to host other international core events such as COP28. EXPO Dubai is an historic moment even though I believe that the pavilions being more publicized are not the ones who most deserve it. If you have the chance to go there please visit Colombia, Brazil, Lebanon, the Netherlands and Palestine. You also must visit the Terra Pavilion and the Women’s one which are very well structured.
Don’t forget to attend events, since the EXPO is still an amazing place to network and meet future partners and ever lasting friends!
